SHOOTING BETTER INTERVIEWS.
This session is aimed at self shooters and anyone who wants
to learn more about shooting interviews.
By the end of the session you will:

the right location for your interview

video grammar
· Demonstrate how to use the rule of
thirds and depth of field to improve your composition.

GETTING THE BEST FROM YOUR CAMERA.
When using low-budget kit, it is tempting to do everything
in automatic. While automatic focus, white balance and exposure
are getting better with each new camera, it is important
to know when they don't work, and how to improve your picture
quality by taking control of your camera.
By the end of this session you will:
· Have a range of techniques for assessing
and setting correct focus,
· Have a range of techniques for getting
correct white balance and using white balance creatively
· Understand when auto exposure doesn't
work and why
· Be able to use the different methods
for setting correct exposure manually.

AUDIO - SIMPLE SOUND ADVICE
There are a wide range of microphones on show at IBC. If you
are wondering what to buy for your location kit we can help
you with the basics.
By the end of this session you will:
· Be able to list the differences between
omni, cardioid or hypercardioid microphones and the appropriate times to use
each one
· Have a range of techniques to get the
best sound quality from your choice of microphones
· Be able to explain the inverse square
law and why it is important
· Have a list of the key ways to adjust
the common audio settings on the camera
· Have a list of techniques for improving
the audio quality on DSLR cameras

CAMERA SUPPORT
If you're buying a camera kit – you'll need a tripod.
It is an essential piece of kit that makes your shots look
more professional.
By the end of this session you will:
· Have a checklist of key points to look
for when buying a tripod
· Have a list of alternative types of
camera support and how and when to use them
· Be able to make decisions on when to
use camera stabilising systems

PRODUCTION ON A BUDGET.
How much do you have to spend on a camera kit? Whatever it
is, you'll probably need to spend about half of it on all
the other things you'll need, besides the camera itself.
By the end of this session you will:
· Have a list of essential equipment
with which to get started
· Be able to make correct assessments
of the features you need when buying a camera
· Have a checklist of points to decide
on whether to record on tape or go tapeless
· Have a summary list of microphones
to consider
